Indian Box Office February 2024: ₹1245 Cr Collected, Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Leads the Charts

Indian films earned ₹1,245 Cr in February 2025, with Chhaava leading at ₹650 Cr. Hindi cinema's market share rose to 45%.

Indian Box Office February 2024: ₹1245 Cr Collected, Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Leads the Charts

The Indian movie industry continued to be in strong form from January into February with a combined home box office gross of ₹1,245 crore. Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava was the top performer, sharing a whopping 53% of the month’s revenue.

February’s Box Office Report Card

The total box office collection, as per The India Box Office Report of Ormax Media, also counts the estimated collections of films which are currently still playing in theatres. Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava, which stars Rashmika Mandanna alongside the lead, released on February 14 and ruled the box office. The biopic of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was a blockbuster hit.

The report also mentioned that only the Hindi-box office numbers of Chhaava were taken into account, since its Telugu version opened in March 2025 and will be accounted for in subsequent reports.

Highest-Grossing February Post-Pandemic

The total box office collections of films that were released in the year 2025 now stand at ₹2,264 crore, a 39% rise from the same period of 2024. This also makes February 2025 the highest-grossing February post-pandemic.

Top Movies of February 2025

Chhaava dominated the charts, breaking ₹650 crore and placing it on the list of all-time highest-grossing Hindi films. Dragon, a Tamil-language blockbuster, was the only other movie to reach over ₹100 crore, outgrossing the much-hyped Tamil big-budget film Vidaamuyarchi.

  4. Thandel
  5. Sanam Teri Kasam
  6. Officer On Duty
  7. Interstellar
  8. Captain America: Brave New World
  9. Crazxy
  10. Mazaka

The report also showed the rising trend of re-releases, as Sanam Teri Kasam and Interstellar entered the top ten.

Growth in Hindi Cinema’s Market Share

Thanks to Chhaava’s superlative performance, the percentage of Hindi films in the overall box office has grown to 45% for January-February 2025, up from 40% for the entire calendar year 2024.
