“I’m not retiring… Just burned out: Vikrant Massey Addresses Retirement Rumors

A day after surprising fans with a post announcing his retirement from acting, Vikrant Massey has clarified his intentions in a recent interview. The actor, known for his role in 12th Fail, explained that he is not retiring but is instead seeking a long break to prioritize his health and personal life. In an interview, he stated, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health are also acting up… People misread it [the social media post].”

Massey had initially stunned his followers with a message indicating he would meet them for “one last time” in 2025. Following the announcement, he attended a special screening of his latest film, The Sabarmati Report, at the Parliament Library, where he had the opportunity to watch the film alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other ministers. Expressing his gratitude, he remarked, “Personally, getting the opportunity to watch The Sabarmati Report with the Prime Minister of our country is the highest point in my career.”

On retirement Massey chose not to respond to the question and walked away

When pressed about his retirement decision, Massey chose not to respond to the question and walked away. Although he did not disclose the reasons behind his announcement, he conveyed that he plans to step back from films after 2025. In his original post, he expressed gratitude to his supporters, stating, “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realize it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father, and a Son. And also as an Actor.”

He added, “So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between.” He concluded his note with “forever indebted.”

Currently, Vikrant Massey is shooting for two films, Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. He began his career in the TV show Dhoom Machao Dhoom and gained fame through Balika Vadhu in 2009. His notable performances include A Death in the Gunj, Chhapaak, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Haseen Dillruba, and Gaslight. He has also starred in popular web series such as Broken But Beautiful, Criminal Justice, and Mirzapur. Last year, he was awarded the “Actor Of The Year” trophy at the NDTV Indian Of The Year for his work in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail.
