The long-gestating fourth installment of the Krrish superhero series is officially underway, with Hrithik Roshan marking his directorial debut. The Krrish movies, a spin-off from the 2003 hit Koi. Mil Gaya, were earlier helmed by his father, Rakesh Roshan.
Rakesh Roshan tweeted the news from Instagram, including a photo of himself with Hrithik and captioning, “Duggu 25 years back I introduced you as an actor, and now again after 25 years you are being launched as a director by two film makers Aditya Chopra & me to carry forward our most ambitious movie #Krrish4. Good wishes & blessings for you all in your new avatar!”
Hrithik’s girlfriend, actress Saba Azad, replied using heart emojis in the comments. Fans, who had been waiting since Krrish 3 (2013) for this news, were delighted.
A fan wrote, “HR turns director for Krrish 4. Woah, Krazzyyy news.” Another posted on X, “The excitement is real. Can’t wait to see #HrithikRoshan in the director’s seat for #Krrish4. This is going to be epic. #Krrish4.” Some even went so far as to forecast box-office records, with one stating, “Be scared #Pushpa2TheRule record is going to break.” Many already expect the film to be a “super hit.”
Although Hrithik has always headed the Krrish franchise, it is not yet known if he will return as the superhero or if someone new will play the role. Official cast and crew information has yet to be released.
The Krrish Franchise
The first Krrish film in 2006 followed the life of Rohit Mehra (Hrithik Roshan) and Nisha’s (Preity Zinta) son Krishna (also Hrithik), who is brought up in a protected environment by his grandmother Sonia (Rekha). When he trails his love interest Priya (Priyanka Chopra) into the real world, he soon assumes the superhero alter ego of Krrish to combat evil. The franchise is one of India’s most successful string of films.
