They fused the global hit Shape of You with the cult classic Urvashi, making for a mesmerizing on-stage collaboration that sent the fans cheering and social media abuzz with excitement.

Adding to the excitement was playback singer Jonita Gandhi, who opened the show with her hit songs like Gilehriyaan, What Jhumka, and Dil Ka Telephone. She shared her enthusiasm by saying she is a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, calling him a true musical genius who effortlessly blends genres.

“Arre, I have always been a huge fan of Ed’s, and I love how multi-dimensional he is!” said Jonita, talking to this newspaper before the performance. She remembered missing Ed Sheeran’s last performance in Mumbai and was thrilled to share the dais with him in Chennai.

Ed Sheeran’s Music Has Indian Flair

This is not the first time Ed Sheeran has used Indian music. Last year, he performed with Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh in Mumbai. The jam session that took place at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse went viral, and people loved the cross-cultural exchange.

Ed Sheeran’s The – = ÷ x Tour in Chennai was presented by AEG Presents Asia and BookMyShow Live. It goes on to yet another milestone in Ed Sheeran’s journey with music proving he has much respect for eclectic sounds.
