‘CHHAAVA’ to Tax-Free in Goa, Announces CM Sawant

Biopic based on brave Marathi warrior Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj recently got released getting the applause from the fans. On the other hand, movie has been the centre of attention as the Goa's CM Pramod Sawant exempted the movie from tax.

‘CHHAAVA’ to Tax-Free in Goa, Announces CM Sawant

The biopic drama “Chhaava,” focuses on the life of Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The biopic received tax exemption in Goa. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made this statement on Wednesday. By highlighting in his statement that the film showcases the valor and sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.  Also, serves as an inspiration to many.

He stated, “It gives pleasure to me to announce that movie “Chhaava” based on the life & sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be Tax Free in Goa.”

About the Movie ‘Chhaava’

Debuting in theaters on February 14, 2025, ‘Chhaava’. Featured stars Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, with Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in supporting roles. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, the film is based on the Marathi novel “Chhaava” by Shivaji Sawant.

The film has received positive reviews from the audience critics. Movie having grossed ₹32 crore in its first six days. It’s on track to become the first Bollywood film to surpass the ₹200-crore mark in 2025.

MP Announced Tax Exemption

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav set the movie free from paying tax.  These announcements coincided with the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who is the father of Chhatrapati Sambhaji.

A.R. Rehman is the composer of the movie with the lyricists  Irshad Kamil and Kshitij Patwardhan. The first single, “Jaane Tu,” was launched on January 31, 2025, followed by “Aaya Re Toofan” on February 6, 2025. The album release event took place on February 13, 2025.

“Chhaava” currently holds the title of the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, surpassing the former record of ₹112 crore set by “Sky Force,” which featured Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya.

The cinema and history overs lovers can witness this biopic-drama in theaters now.
