The period drama by Vicky Kaushal ‘Chhaava’ has been unstoppable at the box office. On day 18, the Laxman Utekar-directed film minted Rs 8.25 crore, and its total domestic collections reached a whopping Rs 467 crore, according to Sacnilk.
With this, Chhaava is now the 11th top-grossing Indian film, beating Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), which had grossed Rs 421 crore. The movie has also beaten Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (2023) and 2.0 (2018), which earned Rs 406.45 crore and Rs 407 crore, respectively, as per ETimes.
Emotional Fan Reaction Goes Viral
Vicky Kaushal recently posted an emotional video on Instagram, highlighting the sheer amount of love that Chhaava has received. In the video, a little boy was caught crying without any control in a cinema hall after watching the movie. The emotional scene had the boy putting his hand over his chest chanting the name of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Vicky Kaushal was thankful in a moving caption, saying, “Hamari sabse badi kamai. (Our greatest earning). Proud of you beta (son)…I wish I could give you a hug. Thank you everyone for your love and emotions. We wished for Shambhu Raaje’s story to reach every household in the world…and to see that happening is our greatest victory.”
Chhaava: A Powerful Historical Saga
Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhaava inspires the film adaptation. Vicky Kaushal plays the fearless Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna plays Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
The movie also features Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta in lead roles. Directed by Dinesh Vijan under the banner Maddock Films, Chhaava is still thrilling fans with its powerful plot and amazing performances.
