Article 370 box office verdict: Yami Gautam film is a ‘clean hit’

Article 370, which hit screens on February 23, had an impressive first weekend. It collected nearly Rs 25 crore in the first three days. It registered good occupancy on Monday, February 26. According to Joginder Tuteja, a trade expert, the film has collected 29.05 crore* in four days. He further said that the film is doing extremely well and is a clean hit.

“It’s a clean hit,” Tuteja told The Daily Guardian.

Here is the daily break up for Article 370

Day 1: Rs 6.12 crore

Day 2: Rs 9.08 crore

Day 3: Rs 10 crore

Day 4: 3.60 crore

On Monday exhibitor Akshaye Rathi told The Daily Guardian that the film is doing well because it resonated with the masses.

“I think the film Article 370 is performing so well because of the subject matter. For decades people were waiting for the historic decision. It is a film which benefits from the cultural and social impact of the decision which happened in 2019. People can relate to the film and that is why it is so successful.”

The Film is expected to have a steady run at the box office till March 1 when Operation Valentine and Kaagaz 2 hit screens.

Article 370, starring Yami Gautam, is a film based on the abrogation of Article 370 which granted the state of Jammu and Kashmir a special status. The film explores various incidents which led to the move.. The film is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale. It also stars Priyamani, Raj Arjun and Sandeep Chatterjee.

This is Yami Gautam’s first film of the year after OMG 2, which emerged as a success last year. She also impressed fans with her work in Dasvi and Lost.
