According to singer Armaan Malik, many people go to concerts not only for the music but to escape the “Fear of Missing Out” (FOMO). The gifted artist pointed out in a recent discussion how creating the ideal Instagram story has grown in value equal to that of savoring the live music itself. Major events have become more common in India of late, with well-known artists such Diljit Dosanjh, Ed Sheeran, and Coldplay performing.
Armaan Malik told ANI that in India the rising concert scene should be credited “for many reasons to go to a concert. One possibility is that the artist has many die-hard fans. Then they go to hear the art live from the artist. Let us look around and determine how the mood will be in the part where they are convinced these artists are absolutely cool. And there are others who, never having been to a show, have become enthused about a concert that has been advertised so much that the buzz of it has grown or there has been a wave of sorts. So, I believe many individuals attend out of FOMO (fear of missing out).
There are many other reasons, he went on to say. However, when people gather at a concert and engage with the music, that is a most gorgeous sentiment. What we have observed from my own performances together with all these artists including Coldplay, Ed Sheeran. You will see that the crowd wants to attend the shows if you see one thing; they want to enjoy. Even a two- to three hour show, they get an experience that distracts them from the anxieties and issues of everyday life. Those two to three hours allow them to put all other issues out of mind. And I believe a musical performance is beautiful.””
