Adah Sharma’s dedication to animals and ethical issues has earned her the title of PETA India’s Person of the Year for 2024. By using her platform for animal welfare, this actress has played a significant role in raising awareness of several issues pertaining to animal abuse.
This year, she made a significant contribution by collaborating with PETA India to honour a Keralan temple’s decision to cease using real elephants for rituals by bringing a life-size mechanical elephant to the site. Adah has also raised awareness of the cruelty of the fashion business by appearing “skinned alive” in a powerful PETA commercial that highlighted the millions of animals killed each year for their skins.
During her campaign, she encourages cruelty-free fashion and sustainable vegan styles through the medium of messages she promotes on her Instagram feed to her 10 million followers.
Adah has also planned a Christmas party for rescued chickens from slaughterhouses, protested horse-drawn carriages in Mumbai, and protested the use of birds for exploitation by raising a very strong protest. She even did a mermaid-themed ad to create awareness about stopping fish-eating.
Adah joins the list of past PETA India Person of the Year winners such as Virat Kohli, Alia Bhatt, and John Abraham. Commenting on her award, Adah said, “Once you understand that animals feel love, pain, joy, and fear just like us, it becomes natural to want to protect them from suffering. I’m honoured to stand with PETA India in advocating for kindness and respect toward all living beings.”
