Star performer Samantha Ruth Prabhu broke her silence over the backlash she received after announcing her 2021 divorce from Naga Chaitanya. In an interview with Galatta India, she revealed how untrue rumors and societal biases fueled intense online trolling and preferred not to take on the false narratives head-on.
Samantha identified challenges women faced in patriarchal societies and the tendency of relationship breakdowns to attract unfair judgment. “Unfortunately, we live in a society which is so patriarchal in nature, that anytime something goes wrong, a woman gets subjected to. a lot more judgment and shaming, not just online, even in real life,” she shared.
Reflecting on the false allegations against her during her divorce, Samantha admitted she felt tempted to speak out but did not. “Many things were said about me that were absolutely untrue. There were many times when I wanted to come out and say, this is not true,” she said.

However, Samantha chose not to beg for public acceptance, having supported herself with her family and friends. “Can’t you live with the fact that your friends and your family know the truth? And it’s okay. If people think things that are not true about you, it’s fine,” she explained, belittling the notion of winning the approval of a whimsical public.
Embracing her journey of self-acceptance, Samantha remarked: “All my life I wanted to be loved and validated. but whoever believes whatever they believe, it’s up to them.”
On the other hand, actor Naga Chaitanya is scheduled to marry actress Sobhita Dhulipala on 4th December. After being engaged in August to her, the couple will meet at the hallowed halls of Annapurna Studios, two years after they started dating.
