In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the city, a meeting was convened at the BMC headquarters on Monday to discuss the necessary civic preparations along his travel route.
Given that Modi will arrive at INS Shikra in Colaba’s Navy Nagar area and subsequently journey along the Eastern Freeway towards the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), BMC has instructed local ward officers on this route to prioritize cleanliness and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings.
BMC officials have also been tasked with verifying the availability of the dual peacock LED lights, originally used in Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Mumbai beautification project. “The CM has directed the illumination of the MTHL stretch with these dual peacock LED lights, making it a priority,” noted an official, indicating a requirement for 1,200 such lights.
During Monday’s meeting, officials were directed to ensure vibrant wall murals and greenery along PM Modi’s travel route. Additionally, the civic authorities were asked to display ‘Viksit Bharat’ messages at crucial traffic junctions along the route.
Over the past weekend, Chief Minister Shinde and BMC Chief I S Chahal spearheaded a comprehensive cleaning initiative in various areas of south Mumbai falling on Modi’s route.
