As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) refines its strategy for the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, National General Secretary B.L. Santosh has made an impassioned call to party officials. The call to action was issued during a series of meetings in Lucknow aimed at readying the party apparatus for the high-stakes electoral event.
Santosh underscored the necessity for party officials to engage beyond the realm of government functionality and speeches, urging them to extend their outreach to diverse demographic segments, including women, youth, and farmers. This, he believes, is key to fortifying the BJP’s social foundation.
In preparation for the 2024 elections, the BJP has already begun to roll out several initiatives across the state. This includes the formation of training teams, each consisting of twelve officials drawn evenly from state and regional levels, tasked with delivering election-related programs throughout Uttar Pradesh.
While the party machinery readies itself for the electoral battle, Santosh cautioned party members to exercise restraint in their conduct, emphasising the role of public service over personal recognition.
To further engage with the public, the BJP’s social media and IT cell team members also interacted with Santosh. He underscored the necessity of leveraging these platforms to effectively communicate the accomplishments of the Modi and Yogi governments during their past nine-year tenure. This is viewed as a critical counter to any negative narratives.
Concerns about the disconnection of senior BJP leaders from grassroots workers were addressed by Santosh. He stressed the need to rejuvenate ties with veteran party workers and highlighted the need for consistent engagement at the booth level. This, he shared, will involve initiating daily dialogues with booth-level workers.
Post-meeting, the UP Minister and President of the OBC Morcha, Narendra Kashyap, made a significant revelation: the party expects a spate of opposition leaders and OBC leaders from various regions to join the BJP in the coming months. This move is anticipated to balance the caste equation.
The BJP’s preparation for the ‘Mission 2024’ underpins its larger efforts to solidify its political base and ensure broad-based support in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. This multifaceted strategy, it seems, will shape the contours of the party’s campaign in the critical months leading up to the polls.
