Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to finalise its list of candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The selection process, marked by careful scrutiny and internal deliberations, will culminate in a key meeting chaired by Ram Madhav in Jammu.

BJP is expected to send a panel of potential candidates for each Assembly constituency to its headquarters in New Delhi. The final decision on the candidates will be made by the National Election Committee, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Party insiders suggest that a significant shift is on the horizon, with 30-40% of the current candidates likely to be replaced by younger faces, signalling a strategic push towards fresh leadership in the region.

In a move that has generated much speculation, BJP’s J&K President, Ravinder Raina, is likely to contest from his ancestral seat in Nowshera. Similarly, General Secretary Sunil Sharma is expected to throw his hat in the ring from the Padder Nagseni constituency.

This assembly poll, with its unique political significance, will be a key indicator of the BJP’s strategy and positioning in Jammu and Kashmir, a region that has long been at the centre of India’s political discourse. The upcoming meeting and final selections are eagerly awaited, setting the stage for what promises to be a crucial electoral battle.
