Tuesday morning saw the start of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party meeting to plan the party’s approach to the Lok Sabha’s Monsoon Session. Among those spotted arriving for the 9:30 am meeting were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishanaw.

The meeting had been convened to discuss crucial organizational matters with party MPs.

Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Monday amidst uproarious scenes with the Opposition demanding a statement by the prime minister on the violence in Manipur.
The first two days of the monsoon session last week saw a similar ruckus leading to nearly zero functioning of Parliament.

Before the Upper House convenes, it is significant that the members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A.) will meet at the office of Congress national president and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to develop a floor management strategy. The Monsoon Session, which started on July 20 and had a lengthy agenda of legislative business, has been adjourned numerous times due to protests, sloganeering, and commotion from members of the newly formed grand Opposition alliance over their demand for a statement from PM Modi regarding the Manipur situation.
