Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Jayant Sinha has issued a detailed response to the party’s show-cause notice, asserting that he has been unjustly targeted for skipping campaigning activities.

Mr. Sinha expressed surprise at receiving the notice from the party, stating that he was out of the country attending to personal commitments during the campaign period. He clarified that he had cast his vote through postal ballots before leaving India, thereby fulfilling his responsibility as a voter.

Furthermore, Mr. Sinha reiterated his decision to step back from electoral responsibilities to focus on combating global climate change, a decision he had publicly announced via social media earlier.

Addressing the allegation that he showed disinterest in election work after the party declared Manish Jaiswal as the candidate from the Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat, Mr. Sinha highlighted his endorsement of Jaiswal through a congratulatory message posted on social media.

Mr. Sinha also refuted claims of being inaccessible for party events, stating that no party official or representative from Jharkhand had reached out to him post his announcement. He mentioned a last-minute invitation to Mr. Jaiswal’s nomination rally, which he couldn’t attend due to prior commitments but visited Jaiswal’s residence the following day to convey his regards.

Expressing displeasure over the timing and manner of the notice, Mr. Sinha criticized the party’s decision to issue it after the elections were over, deeming it as demoralizing to dedicated party workers and undermining collective efforts.

The notice, issued on May 20, accused Mr. Sinha of neglecting organizational work and election campaigning after Manish Jaiswal was declared the candidate for the Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat. Mr. Sinha’s absence during polling in the Hazaribag constituency on May 20 had drawn attention.

Mr. Sinha, the son of former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, emphasized his contributions to the party and asserted that the public issuance of the notice was unwarranted, indicating a sense of being unfairly targeted.
