An FIR has been lodged against BJP Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh, along with Maharashtra MLA Nitesh Rane and others, for alleged hate speeches during a ‘Hindu Jan Aakrosh’ rally held in Solapur, approximately 400 kilometers from the state capital, a police official disclosed on Sunday, January 7.
The rally, which took place between Rajendra Chowk and Kanna Chowk, witnessed the presence of leaders from the Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella organization comprising various outfits. Office bearers of this group were also named in the FIR, according to the official from Jail Road police station.
During the rally, Rane reportedly made references to “jihadis” and the demolition of mosques, while Singh allegedly delivered objectionable statements concerning ‘love jihad,’ the official stated.
“We have booked Raja Singh, Rane, Sakal Hindu Samaj office bearer Sudhakar Mahadev Bahirwade, and 8-10 others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code,” he mentioned. The charges include sections 153A (creating enmity between two different groups on the grounds of religion), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), among others.
