Nitesh Rane, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, voiced his stance on Thursday, advocating for a ban on Halal-certified food in Maharashtra. Drawing inspiration from the recent Uttar Pradesh ban on such products, Rane alleged that funds collected for Halal certificates contribute to terrorism, posing a threat to the Hindu religion. He asserted, “Halal, jihad, love jihad are big concerns. The money collected in the name of a halal certificate is used in terrorism.” Rane plans to write to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, urging a similar prohibition in Maharashtra.
