Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing its vision for “Viksit Bharat” (developed India).
“The entire country waits for the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’. There is a big reason behind it as in the last 10 years, the BJP has implemented every point of its manifesto as a guarantee on the ground. This ‘Sankalp Patra’ empowers all the 4 pillars of developed India — Youth, women, poor and farmers,” the Prime Minister said while releasing it.
The manifesto highlighted promises including India’s bid for the Olympics in 2036, the implementation of the NEP, and legislation against paper leaks.
Here are some of the key pledges in Saffron Party’s Manifesto:
- The BJP has pledged to accelerate infrastructural development along the borders with China, Myanmar, and Pakistan. “We will introduce technological solutions on fenced portions to make fencing smarter,” the manifesto said.
- The BJP assured that India would become the third-largest economic power. “Within a decade, we have brought Bharat from 11th to 5th largest economic power. This was possible due to right policies, focussed execution and meticulous planning,” it said.
- The manifesto also pledged the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act.
- The BJP pledged to implement the Uniform Civil Code. “Bringing Uniform Civil Code: Article 44 of the Constitution lists Uniform Civil Code as one of the Directive Principles of State Policy. BJP believes that women will only get equal rights, and the BJP reiterates its stand to draw a Uniform Civil Code, drawing upon the best traditions and harmonizing them with the modern times,” it stated.
- The manifesto also stated to put One Nation, One Election into effect. “We have set up a committee to examine the issues of conducting simultaneous elections and will work towards the implementation of the recommendations,” PM Modi said.
- The BJP claimed to be committed to strengthening institutions like IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS.
- The BJP stated that its commitment to strengthening institutions like IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS. “We will continue to upgrade the existing institutions through focused funding, capacity building, infrastructure upgradation and dedicated research grants,” the manifesto said.
- The manifesto also included a significant promise of providing free electricity to poor households under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
- The BJP pledged to systematically implement the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam to ensure representation for women in the Parliament and State Legislatures.
- The manifesto also pledged to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops from time to time. “We are providing annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. We are committed to sustained financial support for our farmers,” it said.
