Senior BJP leader and former Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa, and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara addressed a press conference at the BJP state office on Thursday, highlighting the significant achievements of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s government in its first year. The leaders defended the BJP government’s policies and questioned the opposition’s stance, calling the Congress’s criticisms “indigestible” given the BJP’s developmental achievements.
Rathore highlighted that Chief Minister Bhajan lal Sharma’s government had focused on inclusive development, benefiting all sections of society. He said that the opposition’s criticism, especially from Congress, stems from their inability to accept the progress made by the BJP. “More than three and a half lakh people attended the one-year celebration in Jaipur, showing their support for the government,” Rathore stated. He noted that Congress’s narrative was not aligned with public sentiment, which had decisively rejected them in the last general and by-elections.
Rathore also took aim at Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara, accusing him of hypocrisy in questioning the BJP’s governance. Rathore recalled the former Congress government’s failure, where the state was virtually “imprisoned” under the leadership of Ashok Gehlot for 34 days. He also remarked that when Dotasara was the education minister under Gehlot, teachers had raised their voices against corruption, but Dotasara had failed to address these issues. Rathore emphasized that while under the BJP government, corruption like the paper leak mafia was tackled head-on, jobs were no longer sold, and only qualified individuals were hired.
Investment Summit Brings Massive Opportunities for Rajasthan
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa shared that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s government had closely followed the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One of the most significant achievements of the year was the successful organization of the Rising Rajasthan Summit in December. This event saw investors from across the country and 32 countries, signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over Rs 35 lakh crore. Dr. Bairwa emphasized that these agreements would create substantial employment opportunities for Rajasthan’s youth and help strengthen the state’s economy.
He also pointed to the government’s initiative to streamline the investment process through a single window, making it easier for investors to do business in Rajasthan. Moreover, the government’s recognition of the state’s migrant population was highlighted through the announcement of Pravasi Diwas, celebrated on December 10, further promoting the welfare of the people working outside the state.
Chief Minister’s Micro Monitoring System Proves Effective
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara commended Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s commitment to the welfare of all sections of society. Godara emphasized that the BJP government’s policies were designed to benefit the poor, deprived, and marginalized communities. “The BJP government released a budget for roads in every MLA’s area in its first year, something the previous Congress government failed to do in five years,” he stated.
He praised the Chief Minister’s innovative micro-monitoring system, which he said was ensuring that government schemes were reaching the neediest sections of society. Under this system, the government has helped incorporate 12 lakh new beneficiaries into the food security scheme, including 2 lakh specially-abled people. Additionally, ration is being delivered to homes of special category beneficiaries and senior citizens, making the system more accessible to those in need.
Focus on Farmers and Agriculture
Godara also discussed the BJP government’s efforts to improve the livelihoods of farmers. The government increased the support price for wheat, providing farmers with a better income. Further, work was done to provide agricultural connections to about 96,000 farmers and domestic connections to over 4 lakh households. Godara highlighted that these initiatives were helping to improve the economic situation for people across rural areas of Rajasthan.
Continued Focus on Welfare and Transparency
Godara further elaborated on the government’s work to ensure that schemes reached the intended beneficiaries, mentioning campaigns like eKYC and removal of names for ineligible individuals to ensure that only those who needed assistance benefited from government schemes. He also mentioned that from January 1, 2025, the government would start a special campaign to include more deprived individuals into the food security program.
The BJP leaders emphasized that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s first year had been unmatched in its efforts to uplift the people of Rajasthan. They praised the government’s focus on development, transparency, and welfare. As the BJP leadership pointed out, the government’s plans for the next year include further strengthening the state’s economy, empowering its youth, and continuing to implement inclusive development policies.
