The Punjab State BJP President, Sunil Jakhar, strongly criticized the state government for its pettiness and politically absurd decision to withdraw support from the Centre’s Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. Jakhar stated that the AAP’s tendency to create confrontations is harmful to Punjab’s long-term interests and governance.
He pointed out that the people of Punjab are the ones suffering the most due to AAP’s actions, which are aimed at creating unnecessary controversies to divert attention from critical issues. Jakhar emphasized that the Yatra was instrumental in providing health benefits to villagers by offering screenings for various ailments.
Jakhar ridiculed the Punjab Government for not welcoming the Yatra, highlighting the state’s failure to ensure healthcare facilities independently. He mocked the so-called Health Kranti, inaugurated by Kejriwal for a renovated 10-bedded hospital in Patiala.
Expressing his strong disapproval of the decision made hastily and under pressure from Delhi, Jakhar demanded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann clarify the illogical move’s reasons.
He highlighted that the NHM Director’s letter did not specify any rationale for the withdrawal, emphasizing the need for transparency.
Jakhar criticized the AAP leadership for deliberately missing Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari Ji’s arrival to dedicate projects worth Rs. 4000 Crores at Hoshiarpur. He condemned the AAP state government’s hollow promises of development, evident in their decision to skip this event.
Regarding the absence of the Chief Minister due to reported issues with his chopper, Jakhar suggested that the CM could have opted for an alternative mode of transport, expressing disappointment in the disrespect shown to a senior Union Minister. He also criticized the juvenile attitude of state leaders, including the Chief Minister, suggesting they could have delegated a Cabinet Minister to attend.
Jakhar highlighted that the AAP leadership’s evasion tactics stem from feeling cornered due to corruption allegations, referencing Kejriwal’s questioning by the ED in the Excise Scam.
He condemned the AAP government for damaging the state’s image and capabilities during its inefficient and inept rule over the past two years, asserting that many regret voting for AAP. Jakhar predicted a backlash in the 2024 polls, suggesting that the people of Punjab would reject AAP.
