Nagaland will poll for 60 Assembly seats in a single phase on February 27, and the counting of votes will take place on March 2. The BJP will use its top campaigners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the party’s national president JP Nadda, to ensure victory in the poll-bound state, according to party sources. On February 24, PM Modi will conduct a mega rally in Nagaland’s Dimapur, where he will be joined by Chief Minister and NDPP President Neiphiu Rio. He will also hold a roadshow as part of the election campaign in Shillong on the same day, where the BJP hopes to secure a large vote share. As per the Nagaland BJP source, the PM will visit Nagaland and hold a mega rally there. This is the first visit of PM Modi to Meghalaya in 2023. The BJP will enhance the benefit under the Center’s flagship “Kisan Samman Nidhi” scheme by adding Rs 2,000 to the already allocated amount of Rs 6,000 annually.
“For women’s empowerment, we have promised to introduce the “Ka Phan Nonglait” scheme for our mothers, sisters, and daughters. It is named after the first freedom fighter in the Khasi Hills. Amit Shah will also campaign in the Northeast over two days, on February 20 and 21. The Union Home Minister will hold a roadshow with the Nagaland CM in Dimapur on Monday and address a rally in Mokukchung Town on day two of his visit.
Assam’s Chief Minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor, Himanta Biswa Sarma, will also be visiting the poll-bound state on Saturday.
