BIS Northern Regional Office reflects on 77 years of milestones

The Bureau of Indian Standards Northern Regional Office organised a press conference today, unveiling a portrait of remarkable achievements and celebrating its foundation day while highlighting significant milestones attained over 77 years.

Media representatives from prestigious outlets, including the Press Information Bureau (PIB), convened at Manak Bhawan, Chandigarh, for an insightful session led by Rajiv. P, Deputy Director General BIS (North), Saurabh Tiwari, Scientist-E/Director & Head of Haryana Branch Office, and Deepak Agarwal, Scientist-F/Director & Head of Chandigarh Branch Office.

Rajiv P elaborated on BIS activities, emphasizing major verticals such as Standardization, Certification, and Laboratory Activity. He revealed that beyond these, BIS actively participates in promotional initiatives, striving to reach every section of society, including industry, common consumers, school students, and government functionaries.

Saurabh Tiwari, Head of Haryana Branch Office, shared that over 2700 Gram Panchayat Pradhans were sensitized about the availability of Indian Standards in products used in development works. Mr. Deepak Aggarwal highlighted that the Chandigarh Branch Office has granted All India First Licenses to various industries in Punjab, ensuring the quality and safety of their products.

Media persons from various outlets posed questions on hallmarking, quality complaints, misuse of ISI marks, etc., all of which were suitably addressed by the authorities.
