A biker who was riding without a helmet rammed into a constable on Tuesday in a horrifying event reported from Mumbai after being asked to stop at a checkpoint in Mulund.

Abhimanyu Rampure, a 43-year-old police officer, was seriously injured in the event. The accused biker made an attempt to leave the area after hurting the police officer.

In the meantime, Mohd Ansari and Ram Vilas Paswan, the accused’s passengers, have been detained by Navghar police. According to a report, the pair have been charged with reckless and negligent driving under the IPC and other pertinent sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The event occurred on Tuesday, the night before a Dussehra gathering in Mulund East. The incident occurred while the constable was performing bandobast duty. Abhimanyu is currently assigned to the Naigaon Dadar local arms unit.

According to the police, Rampure was instructed to slow down for a document check when a motorcycle without a helmet reached the checkpoint at the anti-chain-snatching area in the Airoli toll naka.

The report quoted a police officer as saying, “Instead of slowing down, the biker tried to flee and rammed into constable Rampure, who tried to stop him.”

The officer was injured on his hand and head after falling.The motorbike and pillion rider were overwhelmed by the additional police officers stationed nearby and taken into custody. Both the rider and the pillion passenger lacked valid driver’s licences, according to authorities.
