Wazirganj is a block-level town in the Gaya district of Bihar and an Assembly constituency. Situated 29 kilometres east of Gaya, Wazirganj lies on the border of the Gaya and Nawada districts. Hisua, Gaya, Bodh Gaya, and Rajgir are the nearby cities. According to the 2011 Census, Wazirganj had a population of 221,731, with a population density of 846 inhabitants per square kilometre. The literacy rate stood at 62.17 per cent, with a significant disparity between male literacy (72.88 per cent) and female literacy (50.91 per cent), highlighting that educating women was not a priority for the local populace. The sex ratio, however, was slightly better, with 951 females per 1,000 males, improving further to 961 among children below the age of six. Wazirganj had about 34,568 houses across 149 villages, most of which had populations of less than 2,000. Notably, Wazirganj had no urban dwellers.
