Warsaliganj Bihar Election 2025
There is some dispute over the correct spelling of the town as both Warsaliganj and Warisaliganj are used. However, the Election Commission recognises it as Warsaliganj for the Assembly constituency. There is no confusion, though, about its origin. The town is named after Waris Ali Khan, brother of Kamgar Khan of the Mayi family, a clan of Muslim Rajputs who once controlled the Narhat-Samai chieftaincy in what is now Nawada district.
Warsaliganj has a rich, if fragmented, history, mainly because much of it was never properly recorded or preserved. As a result, many ancient ruins exist, and their identities are often based on hearsay. Maafi, now a popular picnic spot, is said to date back to the Dvapara Yug and finds mention in the Mahabharata. Dariyapur Parvati village holds relics of the Kapotika Bodh Bihar, with a famous temple dedicated to Avalokiteshwer. The Apsarh village has historical monuments linked to King Aditaysen.
Warsaliganj has its election day on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, followed by the declaration of results on the same day.
In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Aruna Devi won from the Warsaliganj constituency. She defeated Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Satish Kumar by a margin of 9,030 votes. The Warsaliganj constituency is located in the Nawada district of Bihar, and polling for this seat was held in Phase 1 of the Bihar Assembly elections on October 28, 2020.
