Rajesh Singh from the Indian National Congress (INC) came second with 53,321 votes (27.28%). Sumant Kumar of JAP(L) stood third with 18,409 votes (9.42%), while Baidyanath Prasad of the BSP received 14,498 votes (7.42%).
