Tikari Bihar Election 2025
Tikari, also called Tekari, is a subdivision-level town in Bihar’s Gaya district. In the past, it served as the centre of the erstwhile Tekari Raj, which flourished under Mughal and British rule. Located close to Gaya, Bodh Gaya, and Nawada, Tikari carries a historical legacy far more prominent than its present-day significance.
The Tekari Raj lasted nearly 250 years (1709–1958), though it was not a kingdom but a zamindari estate controlling 2,046 villages spread across 7,500 square kilometres. Situated around 15 kilometres west of modern-day Gaya, it was flanked by two rivers – the Morhar and the Jamuna.
Tikari has its election day on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, followed by the declaration of results on the same day.
In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM(S)) candidate Anil Kumar won from the Tikari constituency. He defeated Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Sumant Kumar by a narrow margin of 2,630 votes.
The total voter turnout in the Tikari assembly constituency was approximately 60.25%.
