Rupauli is one of the Assembly constituencies in Bihar’s Purnia district, becomes a seat of attraction in the upcoming 2025 polls. Located in the fertile plains of the Kosi region, the area is traditionally defined by its agrarian roots, migration challenges and history of unpredictable voting patterns.

Over these years, it has seen several ups and downs of different political figures often, local issues and personal equations shape the outcome more than party lines.

Rupauli Election 2025 Date

According to the Election Commission of India, voting in Rupauli is scheduled for November 11, 2025, while the counting of votes is scheduled for November 14, 2025. With all major political players JD(U), RJD and Independents ready for the contest, it promises to be a closely watched one, which may turn out to be one of the most unpredictable electoral battles in the Kosi belt.

Rupauli Bihar Election Result 2020

In the 2020 Assembly elections, JD(U) candidate Bima Bharti defeated LJP candidate Shankar Singh by a margin of 19,330 votes. The voter turnout was 60.69 percent in the year of the polls, which was moderate. Bharti’s victory once again established her hold on this constituency, which she represented several times under different party flags.

Rupauli Bihar Assembly Election Voting Time

Voting in the Rupauli constituency will be held according to the common schedule of the Election Commission. The polling starts at 7:00 a.m. and will continue till 6:00 p.m. with additional security arrangements in flood-prone and remote areas.

What is the population of Rupauli?

From the recent demographic projections, the population of Rupauli was estimated at about 3.5 lakh people. The area is predominantly rural with agriculture being the mainstay of the residents economy. Paddy, maize and jute are the major crops grown in these parts on a relatively minor scale, bananas are also grown.

How many registered voters does Rupauli have?

In the 2020 Assembly elections, according to the Election Commission, Rupauli had 307,030 registered voters. In 2024, the number of electors rose to 312,605 a gradual increase despite migration. As per the estimates, the voting base comprises about 12 percent Scheduled Castes, 3 percent Scheduled Tribes and approximately 12 percent Muslim voters.

The Rupauli Assembly constituency was created in 1951, shortly after independent India’s first general elections. Since then, it has seen a total of 17 Assembly elections and remained an unreserved seat.

Over these decades, it has returned leaders from across the political spectrum from Congress and CPI to JD(U), RJD and Independents reflecting the dynamic and evolving political identity of the area.
