Obra is a block-level town in the Aurangabad district of Bihar’s Magadh region. Located along the Aurangabad-Patna National Highway, this small town lies 15 kilometres from the district headquarters. Nearby cities include Daudnagar, Aurangabad, Dehri-On-Sone, and Rafiganj.

The block comprises 20 panchayats covering 145 villages. Geographically, it is flanked by three rivers: The Punpun to the west and north, the Adri to the east, and the Sone to the west. The fertile plains of the Sone River contribute to the region’s agricultural productivity. Obra is also situated close to the Ratan hillock of the Magadh range and the Chhotanagpur plateau in neighbouring Jharkhand.

Obra has its election day on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.

Counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, followed by the declaration of results on the same day. 

Obra Bihar Election Result 2020?

In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Rishi Kumar won from the Obra constituency. He defeated Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidate Prakash Chandra by a margin of 22,668 votes.

The 2020 result was influenced by a split in the NDA vote, as the LJP and JD(U) contested against each other, allowing the RJD to secure a win despite the combined NDA votes exceeding its tally. The RJD’s ally, the CPI(ML)(L), which won the Karakat Lok Sabha seat in 2024, led all six assembly segments, including Obra.

The literacy rate in Obra was 59.43 per cent, with male literacy at 67.49 per cent and female literacy at 50.69 per cent. The primary languages spoken here are Magahi, Hindi, and Urdu.

Obra was Established in?

The Obra Assembly constituency was established in 1951, and the first election for the seat was held in 1952. Orba lies in the Aurangabad district but is part of the Karakat Lok Sabha seat. The assembly seat has never shown consistent loyalty to any single party, with voters electing representatives from diverse political backgrounds, including the Congress, Socialists, Communists, Janata Party, BJP, Janata Dal, Independent, and the RJD.

The town of Obra is located in the historically significant Magadh region of Bihar and has an ancient history, but its modern administrative and electoral boundaries were defined in the early post-independence era of India.
