Nawada Bihar Election 2025
Nestled in southern Bihar near the Jharkhand border, Nawada spans both sides of the Khuri River. Its name, Nau-abad—Persian for “new town”—seems fitting for a place that never quite held onto its past.
Beyond faint links to the Magadh Empire and Nalanda’s ruins, Nawada’s story is largely forgotten. Before British rule, it was a patchwork of small kingdoms in constant conflict. The 1857 revolt brought looting and fires, but officials managed to safeguard government records in a hill cave, leaving behind the only pre-1857 evidence of the town. Even so, its earlier name and history remain unknown. With no monuments or reminders of glory, Nawada is now defined by disorder, corruption, and underdevelopment—a town time seems to have left behind.
Nawada has its election day on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, followed by the declaration of results on the same day.
In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Vibhav Kumar won from the Nawada constituency. He defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Virendra Singh by a margin of 9,812 votes. The total voter turnout in the Nawada assembly constituency was approximately 52.82%.
