He narrowly defeated Sachindra Prasad Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who received 71,626 votes with a 44.61% vote share, marking a +7.67% increase from the previous election. Mohammad Badiuzzaman of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got 6,367 votes (3.97%), showing a +2.65% rise. Other candidates included Mala Thakur from the Janta Dal Rashtravadi with 2,006 votes (1.25%), Independent candidate Rituraj Pandey with 1,797 votes (1.12%), and Independent candidate Rajesh Kumar Singh who received 1,623 votes (1.01%).
