The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections have already geared up as voters are up to decide on key issues such as infrastructure growth, job creation, school standards, healthcare access, and safe public order. With 243 seats up for grabs, every constituency matters — and political parties have already announced their candidate lists in earnest. A party or alliance must secure at least 122 seats to stake a claim to power in the state.
As the 2025 elections approach, Jehanabad presents a classic Bihar political puzzle. The RJD appears comfortably placed with its committed voter base. For the NDA, cracking this code would require consolidating anti-RJD votes and overcoming historical patterns that have consistently favoured Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party in this constituency over the past quarter of a century.

Jehanabad Past Bihar Election Result?
The Jehanabad Assembly constituency, part of the Jehanabad Lok Sabha seat, has seen 17 elections since its creation in 1951. What began as a Congress stronghold, with the party winning six of the first nine elections, gradually became RJD territory. The only exceptions to early Congress dominance came in 1952 when the Socialist Party won and in 1969 when Shoshit Dal caused an upset. Congress’ last victory here dates back to 1985, marking the end of an era.
The RJD’s ascendancy began in 2000, and since then the party has claimed the seat six times. Their winning streak might have extended to seven consecutive victories had Congress not fielded a candidate in 2010 who siphoned off over 13,000 votes, nearly half of what the RJD polled. This division allowed JD(U) to snatch victory. Currently, the seat is held by Sadhu Yadav, the brother-in-law of RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Jehanabad was Established in?
The Jehanabad administrative district was established on August 1, 1986, when it was carved out of the old Gaya district.
However, the area has a much longer history as a settlement:
· It became a sub-division of the Gaya district in 1872.
· The place name “Jehanabad” is derived from “Jahanarabad,” a “Mandi” (market/relief center) established in the 17th century during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and supervised by his sister, Jahanara, to provide famine relief.
Jehanabad, nestled in southern Bihar, carries a historical legacy mentioned in the 16th-century Mughal chronicle “Aine-e-Akbari”. Penned by Emperor Akbar’s court historian Abu’l Fazl, the text, revised during Akbar’s great-grandson Aurangzeb’s rule, documents how this region was devastated by a severe famine in the 17th century, forcing Emperor Aurangzeb to establish a relief market named Jahanara after his sister. Over time, royal benevolence transformed the area’s identity from Jahanarabad to present-day Jehanabad.
