Islampur Election Result 2025, RJD challenges JD(U) in Nitish Kumar’s Nalanda bastion; counting on Nov 14 after strong voter turnout in Phase 1 polls.
Islampur Election Result OUT: As Bihar’s two-phase election concluded with a strong voter turnout, all eyes now turn to Islampur in Nalanda district, a politically charged seat with deep symbolic value for CM Nitish Kumar. Traditionally seen as a JD(U) stronghold, Islampur has recently emerged as a test case for anti-incumbency sentiment, local youth mobilisation, and shifting caste alliances.
The November 14 counting will decide whether Nitish’s development narrative still resonates with grassroots voters or if the RJD can breach the Nalanda wall for the first time in years.
Ruhail Ranjan of JDU is the new MLA of Islampur.
Ruhail Ranjan from JDU has won the Bihar Vidhan Sabha Election from Islmapur and has become the newest MLA with the total votes of 1,00,487 and the margin of 32.239.
Polling in Islampur was held on 6 November 2025, as part of Phase 1 of the Bihar Assembly elections. The counting of votes and result of the winning candidate is scheduled for 14 November 2025, when the political fate of the candidates will be revealed.
In 2010, the winner in Islampur was Rajib Ranjan of JD(U), who secured 56,332 votes, defeating the RJD candidate by a margin of about 23,808 votes.
In the 2015 poll, Chandrasen Prasad (JD(U)) emerged victorious, with around 66,587 votes, defeating the BJP’s Birendra Gope by a margin of ~22,602 votes.
In 2020, the seat was won by Rakesh Kumar Roushan from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), who secured 68,088 votes and defeated the JD(U)’s Chandra Sen Prasad by a margin of 3,698 votes.

The PIN codes for Islampur is 801303.
What makes Islampur intriguing is not just the party swing but the subtle shift in voter priorities. Once dominated by JD(U)’s longstanding caste-based mobilizations, the 2020 result showed a narrow margin that exposed cracks.
The younger, semi-urban electorate is now looking beyond welfare schemes to demand jobs, connectivity, better infrastructure and public services. If 2025 breaks from caste-anchored voting to performance-oriented behaviour, Islampur could herald a new pattern for similar constituencies across Bihar.
