Gaya city serves as the administrative hub of Gaya district and the Magadh division in Bihar. Positioned about 116 kilometres to the south of Patna, the state’s capital, Gaya stands as Bihar’s second-largest city. This ritual for granting moksha to ancestors still makes Gaya a major Hindu pilgrimage site.
