Dhoraiya is a rural constituency of Banka district in Bihar, is an area of plain fertility with a strong agriculture base. It is about 30 km away from Banka town and the nearby cities include Amarpur, Godda (Jharkhand) and Bhagalpur.
The rivers within a radius of 10–15 km from here enable the land to grow paddy, wheat and maize. Despite its rich ecosystem, the entire region remains underdeveloped due to poor healthcare and educational facilities.
The Dhoraiya Assembly Election 2025 will be held on November 11, 2025, in Phase 2 of the Bihar elections, and the vote count will be taken on November 14, 2025. According to political observers, there is a likely close fight between RJD and JD(U) led NDA alliance.
In the 2020 Assembly polls, RJD's Bhudeo Choudhary secured a narrow win with a margin of 2,687 votes, defeating the JD(U) candidate. LJP's entry as the rebel force divided the NDA votes and thus JD(U) lost its probable sixth straight win. Dhoraiya oscillated between Congress, CPI and JD(U), which won the seat five times each since 1951.
Voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in all the polling stations with special arrangements to ensure higher rural participation.
According to the 2011 Census, Dhoraiya had 239,762 residents while its adjoining block Rajoun accounted for 197,601 people. The combined literacy rate stood at 48.83 percent and the sex ratio at 908 females per 1,000 males. Together, the two blocks have 392 villages, most dependent on agriculture.
In 2020, there were 296,749 registered voters, out of which 61 percent turned out to vote. Scheduled Castes constituted 13.56 percent of the electors, Muslims 18 percent, and Yadavs 15.8 percent. By 2024, the voter count had slightly increased, signaling growing electoral participation.
The Dhoraiya Assembly constituency, reserved for the Scheduled Castes was established in 1951 and is part of the Banka Lok Sabha seat. With the NDA reunited after past splits, Dhoraiya 2025 could mark a strong comeback attempt by the JD(U) while the RJD hopes to defend its foothold in this politically sensitive region.
