The Darbhanga Rural Assembly constituency (numbered 82) is a General (unreserved) seat in the Darbhanga district of Bihar, which is the key segment of the greater Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituency. It consists of rural areas, with a reliance on agriculture and proximity to Darbhanga city.

The RJD has dominated the political field in the constituency. The sitting MLA, Lalit Kumar Yadav of the RJD, won a third consecutive term in 2010 for the seat, though it has undergone a classification change from a Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved seat to a General seat in 2010.

Darbhanga Rural Election 2025 Date

The polling in the Darbhanga Rural Assembly constituency is tentatively scheduled to take place in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections. Based on the widely reported calendar for 2025, the probable date for voting is November 6, 2025. The counting of votes and declaration of the result is expected to occur on November 14, 2025.

Darbhanga Rural, Bihar Election Result 2020

In the 2020 Assembly election, the seat was narrowly secured by the incumbent RJD candidate Lalit Kumar Yadav. He earned 64,929 votes, with a vote share of 42.3%. Yadav won by a slender margin of 2,141 votes, a margin of 1.4%, over runner-up Faraz Fatmi of JD(U). The overall voter turnout in this election was 57.09% of the registered electors. The total number of electors in the 2020 election was 2,75,616.
