
Bodh Gaya (SC) Bihar Election 2025
Bodh Gaya, located on the banks of the Lilajan (Phalgu) River in Bihar’s Gaya district, is one of the four most sacred pilgrimage sites for Buddhists worldwide. It was here that Siddhartha Gautama, the prince of Lumbini and a wandering ascetic, attained enlightenment under the Mahabodhi tree in 534 BCE, after renouncing his family at the age of 29. Following this transformative event, Siddhartha became known as Gautama Buddha and Bodh Gaya became the birthplace of Buddhism, a religion followed by an estimated 100 crore people globally.
Bodh Gaya has its election day on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, followed by the declaration of results on the same day.
In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Kumar Sarvjeet won from the Bodh Gaya (SC) constituency. He defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Hari Manjhi by a margin of 4,708 votes.

The Bodh Gaya (SC) Assembly constituency was formally established in 1957, coinciding with the second Assembly elections of independent India.
Bodh Gaya is one of the oldest and most revered pilgrimage sites in Buddhism. It is believed that Prince Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree here in the 6th century BCE, after which he became the Buddha. Emperor Ashoka visited the site around 260 BCE and constructed the first small temple and shrine.
