Bihariganj Election 2025: Bihariganj is the 71st constituency in Bihar. It is a general seat and falls under the Madhepura district of Bihar, forming part of the Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency was carved out in 2008 following recommendations of the Delimitation Commission, though the Janata Dal-United has consistently won since its first election in 2010, turning it into a reliable stronghold for the party in the Kosi belt.

Bihariganj Election 2025 Date

The polling in Bihariganj will be held on November 6, 2025, during the first phase of the Assembly Elections in Bihar, along with Alamnagar. The counting of votes and announcement of results will be done on November 14, 2025.

Bihariganj, Bihar Election Result 2020

In the 2020 election, the seat was won by Janata Dal (United) candidate Niranjan Kumar Mehta. He secured 81,531 votes, for a vote share of 43.63%. He defeated the runner-up, Subhashini Bundela alias Subhashini Sharad Yadav of the Indian National Congress (INC), by a margin of 18,711 votes.

The voting in Bihariganj is between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the day of the polling, i.e., November 6, 2025.

What is the Population Bihariganj?

The Bihariganj constituency encompasses the Bihariganj and Gwalpara community development blocks. It also includes certain Gram Panchayats from the Uda Kishunganj and Murliganj blocks. The total projected population of the constituency in 2024 was 5,36,528.

The constituency is predominantly rural, with only 5.81% of its voters being urban. It falls within the Kosi river basin, which is naturally very fertile but also faces seasonal floods. The economy is mainly agrarian, with dependence on crops such as paddy, wheat, and maize.

How many Bihariganj registered Voters?

The seat has consistently been a JD(U) stronghold since its formation in 2008. Demographically, the Yadav community is a sizeable chunk of the electorate, accounting for about 19.40% (approximately 64,570 voters on the rolls of 2024) of the electors. According to the 2020 Assembly election data, Bihariganj had 308,766 registered voters. 

The estimated Scheduled Castes population was about 17.24% of the voters. The Muslims thus constituted about 8.70% of the electorate. The total number of registered voters in the constituency has risen to 332,862 for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Bihariganj Assembly constituency was established in 2008 following the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission. It first went to the polls in 2010.
