Dr Sunil Kumar from BJP has won the Bihar Vidhan Sabha Election from Biharsharif and has become the newest MLA with the total votes of 1,09,304 and the margin of 29,168.
For the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar, polling in the Biharsharif seat was held on 6 November 2025 in Phase 1. The result date for counting the votes is set on 14 November 2025.
In 2010, the Biharsharif seat was won by Dr Sunil Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), securing about 77,880 votes and leading by 23,712 votes over his nearest rival.
In 2015, the winner was again Dr Sunil Kumar, this time representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), securing 76,201 votes (approx. 42.73 %) and defeating the JD(U) candidate Mohammad Asghar Shamim, who got 73,861 votes (approx. 41.42 %) – a narrow margin of about 2,340 votes.
In the 2020 election, Dr Sunil Kumar (BJP) again emerged victorious: he polled 81,888 votes and his nearest rival, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Sunil Kumar, got 66,786 votes (vote share approx. 36.34 %). The vote share of the winner was approximately. 44.55 %.
For the 2025 poll, Bihar as a whole recorded a historic turnout; for Biharsharif specifically, one source states voting ended at around 55.09% for this constituency. For Phase 1 of the state’s polling, the turnout reported was 64.66% statewide.
The margin of victory in 2020 for Biharsharif was 15,102 votes (81,888 vs 66,786).
The constituency in question is the Biharsharif Assembly constituency (Constituency No. 172) in Nalanda district, Bihar. It is part of the Nalanda Lok Sabha constituency.
