Bhabua is considered as the administrative epicenter of Bihar's Kaimur district with a special status in the political and cultural topography of the state.
The town is surrounded by rivers such as Durgawati and Karmanasha in the Kaimur hills, is dependent on agriculture and known for the ancient Mundeshwari Temple and its history that dates to the times of the Magadh Empire, Bhabua is truly representative of heritage and the strength of rural India. It is also an important seat in southwestern Bihar as given the district's proximity both to Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
The Bhabua Constituency will go to the polls in Phase 2 of the Bihar Assembly elections on November 11, 2025. The counting of votes is on November 14, 2025. In this politically active constituency, a direct face-off seems inevitable between both major alliances, RJD led Mahagathbandhan and BJP led NDA.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, RJD’s Bharat Bind defeated BJP’s Rinki Rani Pandey by 10,045 votes. Rinki Pandey, who had earlier won the 2018 by-election following her husband Anand Bhushan Pandey’s demise, faced a strong anti-incumbency wave. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, however, the BJP managed to close the gap, trailing the RJD’s winning candidate by just 4,833 votes, signaling a tighter contest this time.
Voting will commence from 7:00 a.m. and go on until 6:00 p.m. with strict security and surveillance measures to ensure free and fair polling across rural and semi-urban areas.
According to the 2011 Census, Bhabua had a total of 301,440 residents and the population density was recorded at 924 persons per square kilometre. The sex ratio was 909 females per 1,000 males. The literacy rate was 57.85 percent considerably higher among males than females.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, there were 274,728 registered voters which increased to 280,979 in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. In the 2020 election, the voter turnout was about 63.5 percent, reflecting a moderate level of participation.
The Bhabua Assembly Constituency was established in 1957 and forms one of the six segments under the Sasaram (SC) Lok Sabha seat. Over 18 elections, Bhabua has seen shifting political loyalties once a Congress stronghold later dominated by the BJP and RJD. As the 2025 election nears, all eyes are on whether RJD's Bharat Bind can retain his seat or if BJP's resurgence will reclaim this historically significant constituency.
