Belaganj, a block-level town in Bihar’s Gaya district in the Magadh region, lies about 25 kilometres southwest of Gaya city along the Falgu River. Located roughly 40 km from Bodh Gaya and around 100 km from Patna, the area thrives on the fertile Gangetic plains, making agriculture its economic backbone.

The verdict not only concludes a closely watched contest but also adds a new chapter to Belaganj’s evolving political narrative.

In the 2010 Belaganj Assembly election (constituency number 232), the winner was Mohammad Amzad of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) party. He defeated his nearest rival, Surendra Prasad Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), by a narrow margin of 2,246 votes. Mohammad Amzad secured 44,792 votes.
