Barari in Bihar's Katihar district is among the most politically dynamic constituencies and it is getting readied for another keenly contested election.

Falling under the Katihar Lok Sabha constituency, the seat has reported frequent shifts in voter loyalty and dominance between parties. Barari with its fertile land and rich cultural mix, represents the changing political pulse of Seemanchal, where every election tells a new story.

Barari Election 2025 Date

The Assembly Election in Barari will be held on November 11, 2025, as a part of the Phase 2 elections of the Bihar Vidhan Sabha. Counting of the votes is slated to begin on November 14, 2025. It will be an interesting contest as JD(U) is trying to defend its seat and RJD-Congress is trying to bounce back.

Barari Bihar Election Result 2020

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the seat was won by Bijay Singh of JD(U) by a margin of 10,438 votes. The runner-up was Neeraj Kumar of the RJD. Despite a very strong opposition, the NDA managed to retain its foothold with an exceptionally high voting percentage of 67.24 percent, way above the state average, it showed that Barari is a politically very active constituency.

Barari Bihar Assembly Election Voting Time

The polling will be done between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Necessary arrangements are expected to be in place in flood-prone and rural areas. Accordingly, the Election Commission is planning to ensure easy access to the polling booths, particularly in the remote areas of Kursela and Sameli blocks.

Barari has an estimated population of around 3.2 lakh, spread over rural and semi-urban areas. The region has a mixed demographic composition, with nearly 30 percent Muslim, 9 percent Scheduled Caste and 4 percent Scheduled Tribe population.
