Aurangabad, nestled in southern Bihar, carries a rich historical legacy. Once part of the ancient Magadh kingdom, it has seen the rule of legendary emperors like Bimbisara, Ajatashatru, Chandragupta Maurya, and Emperor Ashoka. During Sher Shah Suri’s reign, the region became a key part of Rohtas Sirkar. After Mughal rule began, Todar Mal subdued Afghan rebellions here. The town’s name is popularly linked to the Mughal king Aurangzeb, though some historians suggest older names like Gohad or Gohadpur.
Aurangabad has its election day on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025, followed by the declaration of results on the same day.
In the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election, Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Anand Shankar Singh won from the Aurangabad constituency.
