In the last 24 hours, 12 people died due to lightning strikes in seven districts of Bihar. Subsequently, state government has announced compensation of ₹4 lakhs to victim’s families.
Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar paid condolences to the victims. Issuing press release, Bihar CMO said, ‘In the last 24 hours, 12 people have died due to lightning strikes in Bihar, ex-gratia of ₹4 lakhs each to be given to families of the deceased persons.’

Meanwhile, the total casualties from lightning strikes, has now reached 40 within 10 days in Bihar. Reports PTI.
In the eastern state, weather department IMD has predicted heavy monsoon from July 9 to July 11.
Besides Bihar, IMD has forecasted heavy rain in following states- Odisha (July 8), Arunachal Pradesh (July 11), Assam & Meghalaya (July 10 & July 11).
