US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Germany on Friday after postponing a previous trip due to Hurricane Milton impacting the United States, according to German government sources cited by Reuters.
Spiegel magazine reported that preparations for the visit are already underway, although it will not take on the formality of a state visit. Instead, Biden’s trip will focus on ongoing joint initiatives.
Meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier are planned for next Friday, with discussions expected to revolve around the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Biden’s earlier cancellation disrupted plans for a broader gathering of the Ramstein group, which consists of countries providing arms to Ukraine. This meeting would have focused on potential new aid commitments to support Ukraine.
