Ahead of the Quad Summit, US President Joe Biden hosted Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at his Delaware residence on Friday. The meeting comes just before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida join Biden for the summit on Saturday. The event marks PM Modi’s first US visit after securing a third consecutive term.
PM Modi, alongside other Quad leaders, will participate in an “intimate” dinner hosted by Biden before attending the full summit at Biden’s former high school. The Quad Summit will focus on promoting peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, and the Indian PM will also address the UNGA and meet with key American tech CEOs during his three-day visit.
This Quad gathering, held in Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, marks his final major event before stepping down from the 2024 presidential race. The US President has opted out of the November election, leaving Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.
