A Bengaluru techie has criticized the city’s soaring real estate prices after sharing a photo of water leaking into his room. X user Ripudaman revealed that his room in a ₹1.5 crore apartment started experiencing ceiling leaks. The image, taken from his unit on the fifth or sixth floor, shows noticeable dampness on the ceiling.
Ripudaman, a 22-year-old software engineer, expressed his frustration, noting that the apartment’s high price did not reflect the quality of construction. He remarked on X that the high cost of these buildings feels like a scam and expressed disbelief as a civil engineer at the poor construction quality.
“My room in 1.5CR apartment 5th/16th floor is leaking water,” wrote Ripudaman, who describes himself as a 22-year-old software engineer in his X bio. “These expensive buildings are such a scam bro! The civil engineer inside me can’t comprehend this,” he added

The post has gained significant attention on X, with many users joining in to criticize the shoddy construction. Some users suggested that the actual construction cost might have been much lower than the market price, with one user pointing out that the leak could be originating from the floor above. They advised Ripudaman to investigate further, as unresolved leaks from upper floors can cause persistent issues.
Many commenters voiced their dissatisfaction with Bengaluru’s real estate market, arguing that the construction quality often fails to justify the high prices. Some users recommended that a standalone home built under personal supervision would be a better investment compared to expensive, high-floor apartments with inferior construction quality. Others highlighted that the premium price for these apartments often covers only the location, brand, and amenities, not the actual construction quality.
The photo was shared amidst heavy rainfall in Bengaluru, which has led to severe traffic congestion and waterlogged roads throughout the city.
