Days after the Election Commission announced by-polls for the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she will file her nomination for this seat on September 10.

Addressing the TMC workers’ convention in Chetla, Banerjee said, “I will file my nomination for Bhabanipur Assembly by-election on September 10.” The by-election in Bhabanipur Assembly Constituency in West Bengal will be held on September 30, the Election Commission said on September 4.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has decided to deploy central forces at each of the three booths where the polls are happening— Jangipur, Samsherganj and Bhawanipur. On Tuesday, the Bengal BJP approached the commission with an application in this regard. It was decided to deploy central forces within 24 hours.

According to the Election Commission, it is being considered to deploy 8 to 10 companies of paramilitary forces in each assembly constituency. Of the three assemblies that are going to be voted, the attention of the people of the state is fixed on the Bhabanipur by-election. Because that is where the future of Mamata Banerjee’s chief ministership will be decided. On the other hand, there are general elections in Jangipur and Samsherganj. It was temporarily suspended due to the death of candidates in these two constituencies during the Assembly polls. That election will be held on September 30.

However, with one-day elections in just three seats, many did not expect the central forces to be deployed. However, pouring water on all the speculations, the commission sources confirmed that there will be the deployment of armed paramilitary forces. The commission is relying on the central forces to ensure that the vote is peaceful.
