Before diving into Don 3 and Jee Le Zaraa, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar is set to make a return to acting with the military action film 120 Bahadur. In this project, he will portray the role of a soldier.
Farhan has already begun filming for 120 Bahadur, which he describes as a story of exceptional bravery, heroism, and selflessness exhibited by soldiers. On Wednesday, he announced his return to acting on Instagram, revealing that he will play Major Shaitan Singh PVC. The film will depict the Battle of Rezang La, which occurred on November 18, 1962, during the Indo-China war.
He shared a motion poster and a still image from the film, showcasing him atop a mountain overlooking the Himalayan range, part of which is depicted as being under attack. Farhan captioned the posts: “What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj Shaitan Singh PVC and the soldiers of Charlie company, 13 Kumaon regiment.”
He further stated, “Famously known as the Battle of Rezang La, fought on November 18, 1962, during the Indo-China war, it is a story of remarkable courage, heroism, and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds. We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valour to the screen. We embark today to make this film in all humility and with utmost respect to those we represent.”
The announcement has generated excitement, with actor Ranveer Singh reacting enthusiastically with emojis, and Farhan’s filmmaker sister, Zoya Akhtar, also expressing her support with heart and evil eye emojis.
Details about the cast are yet to be revealed. The official synopsis states: “Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Excel Entertainment, 120 Bahadur promises an immersive cinematic experience. With stunning visuals and a gripping storyline, the film aims to both entertain and honor the bravery of India’s armed forces, showcasing the sacrifices made by military heroes and enhancing Excel Entertainment’s reputation for compelling narratives.”
