The secretary of BCCI Jay Shah is soon going to start calling for applications, for a new Team India’s coach. As the tenure of Rahul Dravid is coming to an end this June.
Further, the secretary also announced, that the tenure of New Coach is going to be three years.
Later, talking about Rahul Dravid’s continuation as a coach, shah said that the current coach has to reapply if he wants to continue.
“We will call for applications in the next few days. Rahul Dravid’s tenure is coming to an end. He has to reapply if he has to continue. We are looking for a long-term coach, for three years.” said Jay shah.
Speaking more about the coach, BCCI secretary also revealed, that there is no bar on nationality, as a foreign coach too can be considered if it is recommended by the Cricket Committee Advisory.
Thus, ruling out the precedent of appointing different coaches for different formats.
With Shah further disclosing that there has been no history for different coaches in different formats. But he also revealed that ultimately, the decision is taken by cricket advisory committee. It’s his responsibility to implement their decision.
This decision coincides with a time, when an upcoming T20 world cup is already on the cards. The Tournament is going to held between June 2 and 29 under the joint venue of USA and West Indies.
Under west Indies, the matches will be played in Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, St Lucia, St Vincent, the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago. While In USA, Florida, New York and Texas will be a main venue for the match.
But the secretary also clarified that the existing contract of Rahul Dravid will extend until T20 world cup’s conclusion.
